DURHAM’S LAURENCE LOVETTE Police arrested 17-year-old Lawrence Alvin Lovette, Jr. after sitting outside a house for several hours. Durham police say negotiators worked for hours to first get Lovette on the phone, then to talk him into surrendering peacefully. Police say Lawrence Lovette, Jr. is the man seen driving what appears to be Eve Carson’s SUV in bank surveillance video. STUNNING EVE CARSON . Officers found her body around 5:00 a.m. after responding to 9-1-1 calls reporting gunfire in the area. Police say Carson was lying in the intersection of Hillcrest Road and Hillcrest Circle, in what has been described as a quiet residential neighborhood about half a mile from the campus. CAMEO OF YEAR? Lovette had been arrested several times and charged with felonies ranging from burglary to car theft. He was released on bond in those cases. Wearing an orange jumpsuit with his wrists and ankles shackled, Lovette smiled widely as he was escorted into a police cruiser to be taken back to jail in Durham. SEXY TOYOTA HIGHLANDER! Her 2005 blue Toyota Highlander with Georgia license plate AIV 6690 was found by police the next day near downtown Chapel Hill. Police say it was parked about a block from where Carson lived.
